Streamlined Edge + Rails 2 = Good Lovin'

Posted by Jason Rudolph Fri, 25 Jan 2008 21:27:44 GMT

If you’re up for livin’ on the edge, Streamlined has been enjoying sweet bliss with Rails 2.0.2 for a few weeks now.

Wanna try it out? Just grab the edge bits…

script/plugin install http://svn.streamlinedframework.org/edge/streamlined

...and you’re good to go.

As always, if you notice any issues, be sure to drop a ticket in Trac. In the mean time, we’re well on our way to a formal 1.0 release candidate in the near future. Stay tuned.

First, and though i haven’t yet had a chance to try it, Streamlines seems to be awfull according to your screencast! I’m quite new to rails (coming from spring maven and appfuse, which is conceptually not far from rails IMO) so please bear with me : I wanted to try streamlined. installed it and all, when i try it on my browser, “the outer things are streamlined” (streamlined layout, top menu and left one…) but the views are not. All it seem to do is wrap my views with the streamlined layout. i’m using Rails 2.0.2 ruby 1.8.6 gem 1.0.1 Here is what i did : $ rails myapp $ cd myapp
    1. updated my config/database.yml $ script/generate scaffold Coffee name:string $ rake db:migrate $ script/server
    2. default things are ok $ script/plugin install http://svn.streamlinedframework.org/edge/streamlined/
    3. success added : layout “streamlined” acts_as_streamlined to coffees_controller

    What’s wrong ? have i missed something ?

So sorry … i found my problem…it really does not feel good to be a noob to something. Actually my controller had the default actions generated by scaffold. I think i shouldn’t even have commented here since this is more a support request than a comment… sorry again and thank you for strealining my ruby learning !
